Life After The Old Man

A heavily RNG laden game about catching magic flying fish.

A lot of this is still a work in progress, as I started late in the jam, and work has not given me much time to work on this.  THUS IT IS INCOMPLETE CHECK BACK LATTER.

 The Lore

An Old man went fishing on a choppy sea,

His friends said don’t do it. He did not listen.

His fishing line lurched to life with something on the hook.

Intuition screaming to cut the line. He did not.

Into his boat landed a glass orb with energy swirling within.

An Ocean deity appeared before him.

“Please give me back that orb.”

He smashed it to pieces.

Disembodied wings appeared behind the deity and she flew into the sky.

“Foolish old man.”

From the water below, on disembodied wings, 

the creatures of the rivers, lakes, and oceans took to the sky.

First wonder and awe, then absolute dread.

A tsunami of water, and chaos energy barreled towards him.

For once, he should not have done that.

Life After the Old Man

The world was thrown into utter chaos thanks to the old man. Birds inhabit the waters, fish fly in the skies, magic and mermaids are real, and all modern methods of travel have been disrupted for the better part of two decades.

The Player’s Goal

To reel in the legendary Chaos Fish that resides at the base of the Great Mountain. You are a nobody of mention.  You have nothing more than your magic fishing gear, and intuition to help you bag the fish. However, it will not be easy.  Imbued with chaos energy, the fish is capable of summoning a giant wave of chaotic energy rearranging the landscape in front of its lair. Distinct biomes within the forest appear and disappear with every wave. Should it wash over you, you might lose all of your catch at the least. At the worst, yourself.
