Plaoks
*I've had some folks experience a hang in Chrome, and I have no idea what it is! It if happens to you please try using your phone, or a different browser!*
Plaoks is an idle experience made for the Portland Indie Game Squad's Summer Slow Jam! Since this a Summer Slow Jam, once again:
ANY AND ALL DONATIONS will be funneled back into the PIGSquad!
The technical theme for this jam: Idle Games
The creative theme: Mutation
The technical theme was challenging to implement, especially since this was my first time using GB Studio! How on earth does one make a "idle" style Gameboy game?
My answer: The Timer Script, counting frames, and a lot of menus!
It is not perfect as if you have MORE THAN 3 things happening, the frame rate will slow down, but that's just some good old fashion game jam jank!
Plaok Lore:
A mysterious voice calls you to the East, you manifest as flying seedling to make the dangerous journey, until an obstacle appears in your way!
Gain energy over time to grow Plant Folks a.k.a Plaoks and send them out to hunt creatures for biomass to increase their attack power, gather minerals to increase the health, or send them towards certain death by having them journey towards the east!

do more please! 10/10 godly work
Really cool little game! Of course I think GB Studio in general is just so dang cool :)
Weird little bug I found- at some point the Plaok in the right plot just stopped growing; like it was at the tiny baby size and just stopped advancing and I couldn't collect anything more from that plot. The left one still worked so I could still finish the game though.
I know exactly what happened! When I first implemented the Larger Ploaks upgrade, I also shortened how long it took to grow. The growth is handled by a switch statement, which if you upgraded just at the right moment, skips a case, and leaves the ploak stuck! Thanks for the heads up, and thanks for playing through!
